Ming Yuan

In her work, Ming Yuan (b. 1997) explores Asiatic femininity and ornamentalism, drawing from personal experiences navigating race, class, and gender in Europe. She focuses on characters torn between assimilation and resistance, portraying the ‘yellow woman’ as both subject and object, deeply entangled in materiality and performance. The work reflects on the tensions between identity and societal expectations, rebellion and conformity, and how class and power dynamics shape personal expression.
