A solo exhibition by Alva Le Febvre,
curated by Ida Düring

It begins with the hands. A gathering. A sorting. A movement toward something not yet fully known. Not a hunt, nor a triumph – just the act of carrying. An act so mundane it’s often overlooked, yet one that shapes how we relate to the world around us. The dominant way we tell stories leans heavily on the ideas of conflict and conquest: lives plotted as battles, objects as trophies, endings as victories. But not everything follows that arc. Ursula Le Guin once suggested that the first human tool was not a spear, but a container – a basket, a bag – something meant to hold, to carry, to bring things home. Even the term “hunter-gatherer” follows that logic. Though it has the weight of academic language – something dry and sealed in books – it also speaks of something older and closer to the ground: earth, ash, and soft hands brushing over roots. Still, the hunt comes first, gathering second.
