Mishael Oladipo Fapohunda

Mishael Oladipo Fapohunda’s practice encompasses a dynamic interplay of image, sound, and text, through which he raises questions around identity politics, the right to opacity, and reflects on lived experiences that invite audiences into a space of contemplation. His work often engages with speculative themes, drawing on postcolonial theory, Black existentialism, folklore, and a range of mythologies and personal journaling.

Fapohunda is deeply engaged in capturing, reinterpreting, sampling, distorting, and looping in order to recontextualize the lives of the individuals and essence of the moments he portrays.
